ââ¬Å"My momma always said, ââ¬Å"Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what youââ¬â¢re gonna get.â⬠Even if you havenââ¬â¢t physically watched the movie Forrest Gump, you have most likely already heard someone quote this line from the movie. Forrest Gump is a spectacular movie that includes many historical events as well as many moments that will make you literally laugh out loud. Iââ¬â¢ve seen this movie many times and I love it just as much, if not more each and every time I watch it. During Forrestââ¬â¢s life he encounters events such as the Vietnam War, the assassination of JFK, the Watergate Scandal, and many others. I will be discussing how these events are portrayed in the movie, how they actually occurred in real life, and how Forrest Gump encourages viewers to become more interested in learning more about history. The movie, Forrest Gump, is the life story of an odd, fictional character whose name happens to be Forrest Gump. Forrest Gump is involved in many historical events throughout his life. Forrest grows up wearing braces on his legs to help support him to walk properly and because of these horrendous braces, Forrest is constantly bullied by other kids. One day as these kids are picking on him, Forrestââ¬â¢s best friend, Jenny, screams for Forrest to run. As he is attempting to run, the leg braces suddenly break and Forrest miraculously begins to sprint faster than anybody has ever seen a man sprint before.
